STATS Name: Camelot, Road Age: 650 (Looks to be about 20) Gender: Male Seat: Captain Division: 2nd PHYSICAL Height: 5 foot 11 Weight: 138lbs Eye Color: Pale blue Hair: Platinum and it's usually straightened. Skin Tone: A shade above pale Body Type:Athletic Distinguishing marks/features: Tattoo of a rose along his right arm. Appearance Description: Camelot stands tallish at 5 foot 11 inches. He grew up being one of the taller kids, but his growing slowed down to a stop after a while. His skin is just a step above pale, enough so that he doesn't burn totally easily but he still has to be careful. He's not ghostly or ungodly white, just lacking in the pigmentation department. His eyes tend to be rather friendly even if his body language would say otherwise. They are a pale blue, but with a slight tint of gray in them to make his irises look kind of foggy. His hair is a variety of shades that all come together nicely: platinum is the most present, followed by gray, and then silver. He tries to keep his hair something relating to straight but sometimes he just lets it be messy. He has natural bedhead hair, but it works for him. It's not unruly, just chaotically organized (if that makes any sense...) His body doesn't give off this "I'm so tough" vibe, especially since he has his body covered most of the time, but a solid punch is enough to prove you wrong. This five eleven "pretty boy" has muscles built into his lean figure. His stomach is flat with an outline of abs, but there's nothing super defined there. His arms, if one were to see them bare, don't look weak, but there aren't a ton of rippling muscles there. When flexing, if he should be for some reason, then the muscles are far more visible. On his right arm there is a tattoo of a rose. It starts on his shoulder with the rose in full bloom, from there it's stem spirals around his arm down to his wrist where the end of the stem ends on the top of his hand. It's thorns start out fairly spaced out at the top, but as you move down there are more thorns and a darker shade of green slowly comes into the mix to add a more...ominous feel to it all. His lips are never really smiling unless he is saying something that most people would find suicidal. Like "You [3rd Seat] handle that Espada would you?" Something like that, but whenever he does smile there's a plan in motion under that platinum hair of his. His face is smooth and void of any stress lines, wrinkles, or any of those things most Shinigami, by his age, possess. That can only be traced back to his attitude about things. EVERYTHING ELSE Personality: Camelot isn't quite the icy bastard that he may appear to be. He will practice what he preaches but within reason. If you asked him what's more important the Gotei 13 or the Onmitsukido, he would answer with the Onmitsukido. It's become his family, his life, and his only solid ground in a world full of uncertainty. Though he leads both groups, the only reason he doesn't separate them from the Gotei 13 is because of the amount of work it would require. On that note, he's not a fan of all the work that comes with being a Captain, but he manages alright. Which usually means having his vice-Captain do most of the paperwork that isn't "classified" documents. As far as his squad goes he is a hardass. He does not accept failure in a mission, and he does not accept anything less than 115%. He also will not tolerate straying from the Onmitsukido way. He will not put his life, or anyone else's, in danger just to save a comrade who is failing in battle. If saving a failing comrade is possible without risk of death, then he will step in, or send someone else to step in, in a heartbeat. As far as the other divisions are concerned...well he's less than friendly depending upon the division and the person. He holds a deep seated hatred for every member in Division 11. Catch him on a drunken night and he'll go on for hours about how much he loathes them, hell he may even fight one of them! He's kind of a ballsy drunk... He is as cold as he is calculating. He isn't someone you can just run up to and expect to be best friends with. That's probably not going to happen. But that's not to say he isn't approachable. He just doesn't have a high tolerance level for people who try to rush things. He also hates when people try to act "cute" being bouncy and bubbly and trying that puppy dog eyes crap will sooner get a blade to your throat than his friendship. Camelot hates being called Road unless he considers you to be a friend. Calling him Road won't get anybody anywhere. He refuses to even acknowledge that name when being addressed by anyone less than a friend. In a nutshell Camelot doesn't feel much except for specific situations. He isn't a stickler for the rules, having been known to push his luck once or twice. He can handle his alcohol, but when he loses it well...fists start swinging typically. It should be noted however that all of this information would only be known to those whom he considers friends (save the bit about his name preference...) He doesn't enjoy coming off as a sympathetic nice guy. He would rather be an emotionless machine, or be seen as one. History:Human Arc - Spoiler:
As a human, Road Camelot wasn't much. Just your average boy, with average friends, an average family, who had average problems. It was a dry and boring life with not much to love for but not a whole lot to die for either. But he wasn't complaining. He just made life work. He got into a fight here and there and lost a lot. He mostly got picked on for him feminine frame. He was known as the local "pretty boy" as well as claiming to see giant monsters and strange people in black combating them. Being the weird pretty boy didn't make him popular, but he didn't really care. He ignored them, he really didn't care. His parents felt differently though. Camelot didn't want to fight, he just wanted to learn.
At age fifteen, after he was sent to the E.R. after a fight during school, his parents made him take a karate class. Not the typical kind of class though. This was old school, kill or be killed Karate. He ended up injuring himself more in this class than he ever did getting into fights, but his parents pushed him to stay in it. He was miserable in the class, but he made it work. He was always making things work.
Death Arc - Spoiler:
Of course when word got out that he was studying martial arts, kids wanted to do nothing more than pick on him. It made him a bigger target. But he did manage to put up a better fight, however he still got beat down. His father was not going to tolerate this. Being ex-military, his father was hard on honor. Camelot was losing their family honor and as moderately wealthy people, he couldn't have that. So he disowned Camelot. His mother wasn't going to speak against her spouse, and Camelot knew better than to argue. When his father's mind had been made, there was no changing it.
So he gathered his stuff and went to live with his grandmother on the other side of town. His stuff mainly comprised of books and various notes on things. He continued the Karate lessons mainly out of stubbornness. He didn't break his hands and feet several times over just to quite. He was nineteen when he died.
His death wasn't due to a fight as one may think. No...rather he died choking on a strawberry. That could explain why he despises those things to this day.
Plus Arc - Spoiler:
Camelot didn't know how to react to death. Of course he freaked out at first. The monsters, the people in black, they were all there. Fighting around his place of death...the school. He didn't know what to do, so he ran. There as a strange chain in his chest. He had just been killed by a strawberry at school. He had no idea what was going on right now. There was just too much going on for him to process right now. When he couldn't hear the roars of the monsters anymore or the cries of the black clad people, he stopped running.
He slumped against a wall and shivered out of fear. He didn't know what to do. So he just hid. Back then he thought he was avoiding the men in black, but now he sees that they were just busy with a million and one other issues. But he enjoyed his one-sided game of hide and seek. Of course he was in terrible pain after the first few days. The chain was...eating itself? He had many nightmares, and sometimes still does, about all those mouths eating themselves.
The day before he would have turned into a Hollow, one of the beasts came to him. He was frozen with fear. It was huge. What was he supposed to do? Fight? Yeah right. He couldn't do anything. But there was no saving at the last second. No. Rather, there was saving before things went to Hell. A group of Shinigami came to his aid. Two handled the Hollow while one sent him off to the soul Society.
Shinigami Academy Arc - Spoiler:
Once inside the Soul Society, Camelot learned much about the reality of things in the Rukongai. However he wasn't there long. His reiatsu wasn't super crazy high, but the fact that as a human he could see the battles of Shinigami and Hollow clear as day said that he did possess an impressive amount. If left unchecked it could be bad. He spent maybe a week in the 80th district (there was also almost a fight between him and at least one other neighborhood kid every day) before he was noticed and forwarded to the Academy.
Life in the Academy was difficult, not because he couldn't understand things, but because he couldn't execute them. He was solidified in his world of science and reason. Of literature and art. Now he had to melt his logical world down and enter this new realm where there were no rules. Where death was very much possible from the slightest slip up. He understood the theory behind kido and hoho, but he slacked a bit. Hakuda was his best class by a long shot. Zanjutsu was okay. He wasn't fantastic at it, but he was quite far from average.
Camelot proved to be a quick study once he stopped fussing over things. While he did increase in kido, his biggest improvement was in the use of flash step. He quickly rose to the top of his class. It wasn't long before the Onmitsukido took notice of him. Of course they also took notice of dozens of other people who were also skilled in the areas they were looking for. He was being watched carefully. By the end of his second year he was given a low ranking seat within the 2nd Division while he was still finishing classes.
Balancing out missions as well as his classes proved hard, but completely worth it. He managed to complete his courses and graduate by the end of his third year, as well as move up a few ranks in the 2nd Division / Onmitsukido.
Vice-Captain Arc - Spoiler:
Camelot learned many of the Onmitsukido's lessons the hard way. He looked up to and hated his captain. She was a woman who demanded respect, and who would not accept failure as a reason for returning from a mission. Camelot learned much from her about who he was as a person. He recalls one mission in particular when he was a fifth seat. His captain had gotten word of an unusual gathering of Hollow in the Human World. Camelot was put in charge of a small squad as well as the Vice-Captain and, of course, the Captain herself.
He tried to lead them as best he could, but his emotions ruined the mission. His men was being overwhelmed and Camelot tried saving as many as he could. He ended up losing two of them. He was the target of ridicule for the next few weeks, but his Captain understood why he did what he did. She didn't scold him, but she certainly didn't praise him or offer him words of comfort either. All she said was "Welcome to the Onmitsukido..."
As the years went by, Camelot changed. He had to. He had to develop ways to deal with the pressures of the Onmitsukido's ways. They were looked down upon by the Gotei 13 for being too sneaky, they were pointed at and called dishonorable. He found it amusing that in life and in death he somehow managed to bring "dishonor" to something. Camelot again ignored these subtle glare or whispers behind his back. He lost himself in his training or speaking with his Zanpakuto.
After about six years of missions, punishments, and learning he finally worked his way up to a third seat. His captain didn't like handing out promotions. The Vice-Captain was jealous though. He felt that he should be captain. He had been planning and plotting for years on how to overthrow his superior. The method chosen was low even for the 2nd Division. Camelot only found out by chance. He happened to hear a bit of a conversation while walking through the barracks.
The best way to obtain favor with his captain would be to report it. But that's not how things were done here. That may have been okay within the other Divisions, but this was a different story. So Camelot pulled some strings and got the Lieutenant to meet up with him at night. In the surrounding area were several Onmitsukido guards from the Nest of Maggots. This was not a battle of physical prowess, but rather of words. Camelot spoke with the Lieutenant for almost an hour before things finally were put in motion. Word of his plans to overthrow the Captain by purposefully luring her into the Human World and ending her life there and making it look like a Hollow's doing slipped out of the prideful mouth. Camelot nodded and signaled the guards.
The next day his captain asked him why Camelot decided to use the method he did to foil the Shinigami as opposed to some other way. He simply responded "If I had told you myself, then what kind of person would I be? If I had fought him I would belong to the 11th Division. And if I did nothing, I might as well have killed you myself. This was my only option." While she wasn't satisfied with that answer, it was good enough. That afternoon, he obtained his Vice-Captain badge.
Captain Arc - Spoiler:
Camelot was truly growing into his position as Vice-Captain. He was far more stealthy than he had been years before hand, now capable of sneaking up on some of the other Lieutenants, as well as some captains, with ease. He made it his business to know the happenings within his Division as well as the other Divisions at times. He also was, in secret, working on his Bankai using the hidden training facility as his area for practice when night had fallen.
He had already obtained the ability to use it, as he discovered two years prior, but it was proper utilization that was holding him up. Going into Bankai was easy, but maintaining it, not losing control or focus, that was hard. He didn't dare ask his Captain or any other Shinigami for help. If anyone knew then he'd be taken out of the 2nd Division upon mastery of his Bankai. But nothing got passed his Captain. One of the things he loved about that woman. She may have been a bitch, but even when she was sleeping, she was more than aware of what was going on in the area.
Two years into being Vice-Captain and he still wasn't quiet getting a hang on this Bankai thing. Finally his Captain stepped in. She wasn't mad, she wasn't thrilled, she just showed up one night, told him to face his Zanpakuto in whatever method his Zanpakuto wished rather than a method he wished, and if he survived he'd be better for it. After that she left. Quite literally, left. Rumor had it that she "retired" At the time he didn't know any better, now he knows what really happened.
Her advice was valued to him. He was leading the 2nd Division as well as the Onmitsukido for half a year as the Vice-Captain. After mastery of his bankai had come to him, even if he almost died trying to accomplish it, he went forward with this, took the test, displayed his bankai, and the rest, as they say, is history...
